Since the sun seems to have gone on vacation, I'll offer a bright spot in the day by introducing today's Unsung Hero of Fuel Efficiency, the Jaguar XK. You may be wondering, a Jag is fuel efficient? Yes, for a vehicle of its class, the XK rates well with MPG numbers. We'll delve into that a bit more later.
I spoke with Phyllis Hunter, a Jaguar gold certified sales consultant at Checkered Flag yesterday, and she says if you're looking to be noticed, the XK is the car for you. One glance at the XK, I immediately understood. Stylistically, the XK has striking looks that command your attention.
Aside from the standard XK, a supercharged version, the XKR, is available. You can also get your hands on a limited edition XKR Portfolio (Phyllis is pictured here with one). Each model is offered in two-door coupe and convertible styles. The XK is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 that produces 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the XKR has 420 horses under the hood and 418 lb-ft of torque. Six-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift come standard on all models.
So, the XK churns out powerful numbers, but what about the other set of important numbers, MPG? It's rated at 25 miles on the highway and 16 in the city. With a 19- gallon sized tank, it garners upwards of 475 miles with one fill-up.
The numbers vary slightly with the XKR. It gets 23 highway miles. Phyllis says that people may also be interested to know that the XK is not subjected to a gas-guzzler tax (in fact no Jag vehicle is).
I've touched on the XK's exterior earlier, but the interior is definitely worth a look, too. In true Jaguar fashion, the XK interior workmanship is impeccable. The supple, hand-selected leather seating surfaces not only look great, but are also super comfortable. Rich,
high-gloss Burl Walnut complete the package.
The XK is also outfitted with plenty of standard amenities, including: 19-in. Carelia wheels; keyless entry and start; 10-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats; and a 7-in. touchscreen (with audio, telephone, climate, navigation, personalization, and valet capabilities).
Safety wise, you have dual-stage airbags and side; front occupants seat-mounted airbags; TracDSC (Dynamic Stability Control); and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Visit here for the full list of standard features.
The XK is a stylishly beautiful luxury vehicle. Like usual though, it is best to let the XK speak for itself by visiting Checkered Flag Jaguar, 2865 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach or speak with the Jaguar sales team at (757) 490-1111.
